In the past year I started making my own black bean burgers in bulk. It is a quick, easy meal, relatively healthy & tasty.
I was inspired to make this layout by a technique used by Ali Edward’s to make the hand-drawn box with various elements. Why create a layout about food? Cooking is a significant story in my life. It starts with my parents who taught me a lot about cooking, mostly just by observing their process. I started baking and cooking on my own when I was about 12 years old. I’ve always liked to experiment in the kitchen and challenge myself with new techniques. I do a lot of from-scratch or almost-from-scratch cooking and am always looking for new recipes to try. I like trying to replace ingredients with healthier options.
I did a 8.5×11 white cardstock layout, using an American Crafts precision pen to draw the box (with a ruler of course). In a challenge from Type class, I used different sizes of black alpha stickers to make a stacked title.

Other supplies used: Stamps from 2 of Kelly Purkey’s foodie related stamp sets; phrase sticker from Simple Stories alpha sticker sheets; Wood veneer inked in grey; Puffy sticker from Shop Evalicious; sequins; journal card run thru typewriter.
And for the recipe…
