Shopping in Hawaii // Shop Local

I blog to share. I like the free exchange of ideas and suggestions.

I love to shop local and support artists & crafters across the globe. When I find someone or something I like, I do my best to share it. I’m starting to call these posts Shop Local so they can be easily searched.

The holidays are right around the corner and with it the most stressful task (for me!) of gift buying. I think buying handmade items is a great way to shine light onto more than one person. The original artist makes a sale, your giftee gets something unique & loves you more for being thoughtful, so everyone wins.

Be sure to check back here for some of the shops and artists I mention for gifts. None of this is sponsored and I do not notify anyone I review, so it’s purely what I like & want to share.

On vacation in Hawaii, I did a lot of local shopping. So many talented artists, and what better inspiration than ocean, beach, palm trees & sun?

At the Aloha Festival in Lahaina on the island of Maui, is where I spotted Sarah Williams set up. Initially I was drawn to the wall art, but ended up with a few pieces of her handcrafted jewelry.

For the wall art, she burns the edges of the wood, which gives it such character. It was hard to decide on a design but the waterfall seemed so peaceful. It sits on top of my piano right now, but it may make its way to a wall eventually.

Her handcut leather jewelry is very bohemian & earthy. I picked out the black & turquoise earrings for me and another pair for a gift.

Then I saw the necklace, which I instantly connected to. The gray leather, my favorite color, with the light blue & red stones, both representative of the two chakras I have been focusing on lately. Some stones are semi-precious.

I love how unique the pieces are and the high quality. I’ve worn both a few times already.
