Minc Mini – Cutting foil

Since using the Minc Mini, I’ve come to know a new pastime known as wrestling with foil. Yes, it’s a great machine and I love the look of my foiled embellishments, but wrangling with the foil can be frustrating.

Since it comes in tubes, it tends to want to curl up, so it takes some flattening out a bit. I am currently trying to find alternative storage for the foil and am using a plastic project keeper to lay the foil pieces flat.

Also when you are trying to cut the foil it does not always want to lay flat.

So I figure out the best way for me was to lay my project down and use an craft knife to cut the foil. I use a clear ruler (actually from the Perfect Layers rulers) and place it down so that it sticks out from my project a bit to give some wiggle room. The knife just glides right through the foil without too much pressure and gives a clean straight line, versus the fringe I was getting using scissors.

Have you figured out any good ways to cut and/or store foil?
