September / Field Notes

Halfway into September now and still holding onto summer for as long as I can!

It’s funny how September always brings about the feeling of new beginnings even though it’s been a long time since I started school. For me September is a big, flashing signal for the end of the year. It always seems like at this point, I can see the rest of the year planned out and I know the holidays will be right around the corner.

But I’m a summer baby. I don’t like when the days get shorter. Hopefully it will be a long fall, and even longer until we see a speck of a snowflake.

In the studio, there are a lot of projects in the works, just waiting for some quality time to execute them. I have photos ready for a few other days for WITL and once I find time to print, it should come together.

Also I am currently taking Ali Edward’s 31 More Things class. This is a second edition to the original 31 Things I took back in June 2012. I like the practice of writing, however this time it has not been coming as easy to me as before. I draft an email to myself for each topic so I can go back and write replies when I think of other stories or angles to the topic. I am going to stick with the 12×12 digital layout for this project.

I have various stages of stories/events from summer, many I’m including in my Midori traveler’s notebook, and others will just be traditional layouts. I need to jot down some more details before I forget these stories.

Do you look forward to this time of year or is it a drag? I guess the only good thing about the colder months headed our way is some indoor time to get to more scrapbooking and other projects. A studio purge is also in the works and needed to try to declutter the space & the brain.

Pencils above are from the Target $1 bin.
