Just to name a few… (7/10/15)

It’s harvest time! Finding myself inundated with squash and other garden veggies these days. Trying different recipes, giving them away and preserving is keeping me busy. Enjoying some pool days and getting outside as much as possible. There is more outdoor live music to come this weekend – excited!

A few things from this week…

  • Type class with Ali Edward’s wrapped up this week. I highly recommend this course. It was a different way to look at scrapbooking, and offered a lot of inspiration to get those stories recorded. I generally do not scrap at all in the Spring/Summer season, but I’ve been able to get a few layouts done and have ideas for a few more to come. Anything that keeps me motivated is worth mentioning!
  • I’ve been on a shopping hiatus for a couple months, but decided to treat myself (early bday present!) to a few items during a scrapbook.com sale last week. I am not into the planner trend that is going on and it’s not something I would use, but I like the idea of recording things regularly. I picked up Dear Lizzy’s 52-week journal with this intent and am planning to use it over the next year. Now just to decide if I should start from the beginning or try to correlate it to the season…? (Also grabbed large alphas from American Crafts, as inspired by Type and finding a void in my supply stash.)
  • As always Leo from Zen Habits has some wise words this week in his post about getting out of a funk.
  • A new product release from Artifact Uprising has me drooling… Check out these awesome Layflat Photo Albums. Deciding what I want to put in one asap.
  • Trying Apple Music’s free trial. Figured I would check it out, since it’s free (why not?). Enjoying listening to some albums I have been wanting to check out further: Pageant Material by Kacey Musgraves and new single from Grace Potter.

Reignited my ancestry project this week, familiarizing myself with what information I have on file and brainstorming how I want to present the info. Keeping with my style, I want to focus on the stories and less on the facts. Some stories are going to be more hypothesized because I just don’t have a ton of information. Planning to do some more research and find some other channels to seek info. I ultimately want a book that can be replicated, so leaning towards a digital design, or a design that can be easily scanned. The Artifact Uprising layflat albums may be the right fit for this project.
